At Alfa Insurance, we work to provide our clients with a full line of products to meet all their insurance needs. Many times providing for our clients means more than just selling insurance and that is why we also go the extra mile to support the communities where they live and work.

Alfa personnel, whether at the Home Office in Montgomery, Ala. or at one of our many service centers in Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi; work daily to support charities, promote education and back area organizations with the goal of making our communities a better place to live and work.

Below are some of the organizations we work with on a regular basis:

Charity

United Way The United Way helps members of our community by providing services to people with disabilities, abused and neglected children, senior citizens and many others. Each year Alfa has donated thousands of dollars to help the United Way succeed with its goals.Monetary donations are just the beginning of Alfa's work with the United Way. Other areas of support include:

Family Sunshine Center - During the holidays, employees get together to donate gifts, wrapping paper and other items to the center that distributes the donations to abused children and adults who otherwise would not be able to celebrate the season.

Family Court - The Iron Bowl is a major event in Alabama and each year Alfa holds a one-day Auburn/Alabama fund-raiser where employees can make a donation in honor of their favorite team.

Goodwill Industries - The Goodwill truck visits the Home Office on a regular basis and employees bring clothing and household items to donate.

Relay for Life - Alfa's award winning team raises money each year to help the American Cancer Society in the fight against cancer. In past years, Alfa's team has been the top fund-raiser in Montgomery County.

Montgomery Food Bank - Food drives are held for employees to bring non-perishable food items. The food is collected and delivered to the Montgomery Food Bank.

American Red Cross - According to the American Red Cross, it only takes one blood donation to save three lives. Alfa sponsors two blood drives for the Red Cross each year and has also donated money for local disaster relief funds throughout Alabama.Alfa also proudly supports its employees who serve on boards for the Family Violence Center, Salvation Army, National Kidney Foundation, St. Margaret's Foundation, Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center and the Alabama Baptist Foundation.

Education

Alabama Teacher of the Month Program - Each month Alfa Insurance and the Alabama Farmers Federation honors one of Alabama's top teachers. The program recognizes excellence in education by honoring one outstanding public school teacher from each of the state's eight public school board districts, two private school teachers and two principals each year. Monthly winners and their schools receive $1,000 each from Alfa.

Alabama Teacher of the Year Program - Alfa Insurance and the Alabama Farmers Federation work with the Alabama State Department of Education to honor the state's top teacher each year. In addition to the honor, Alfa and the Farmers Federation present the teacher with the keys to a new car to drive for a year.

Partners in Education - Helping school children succeed is important to Alfa and it shows. Many of Alfa's employees participate in the program. They use their lunch break one day a week during the school year to tutor children in area schools.

Bryant-Jordan Sponsor - Named for former University of Alabama Coach Paul W. "Bear" Bryant and Auburn University Coach Ralph "Shug" Jordan, the Bryant-Jordan Scholarship Foundation promotes athletic and physical fitness by awarding scholarships to deserving students.Alfa also supports education through monetary donations to the state's colleges and universities.

Corporate Donations

Heart Start - Alfa Insurance and the Alabama Farmers Federation teamed together to help the Heart Start program initiated by the Association of Volunteer Fire Departments. Money raised through the program will go toward providing all of Alabama's volunteer fire departments with life saving technology.

Jubilee City Fest Sponsor - Memorial Day weekend has become synonymous in Montgomery with Jubilee City Fest that provides three days of musical entertainment and fun for the whole family. Alfa is one of the longest running supporters of the Kids Fest area that includes over 100,000 square feet of activities for children 12 and under.

Alabama Shakespeare Festival Donor - Known throughout the Southeast for its Shakespeare and Broadway productions, the festival provides educational resources to everyone from school age children to adults and contributes millions of dollars each year into the state's economy. In 2004, Alfa provided $1 million to continue the nationally acclaimed school matinee program, Schoolfest. The funding kept the ASF program intact for more than 25,000 Alabama schoolchildren in the 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 seasons.
