ALFA'S INTERNET PRIVACY STATEMENT

Your privacy is important to us. At Alfa, we are committed to giving your non-public personal information all the protection required by law. This notice is to advise you of how we will handle this information.

Non-public personal information is personally identifiable information about you obtained by Alfa in connection with providing products and services to you. It includes information provided by you, obtained by us, or resulting from your transactions with us or others. It does not include information available to the general public. We collect this information from the following sources:

1.  Information we receive from you on applications or other forms. This information may be received in person, by mail, by phone, by fax or online. For some Web site functions, Alfa may require select personal information to validate your identity, provide a quote, and display your policy information. 

2.  Information about your transactions with us, our affiliates or others. This could include, among other things, information to adjust, investigate or settle your insurance claims, your claims history, billing and payment information and coverage selections.

3.  Information we receive from consumer reporting agencies.  This information is generally used in conjunction with the application process. It may include motor vehicle reports, claims reports and information from a consumer report or investigative consumer report.

Online Transactions
During the time that you are logged onto our site, we log IP addresses (a number assigned to your computer when you use the Internet), browser and platform types, domain names, access times, referral data (the last site or URL you visited before logging into our site and the first site or URL you visit after leaving our site), and your activity while using or reviewing our site. Visitors are not required to provide any personal information to us in order to access our Web site, but you may choose to provide such information to us.  For example, in order to present specific policy information to you on this site, it will be necessary for you to enter a limited amount of personal information such as policy number, member number and social security number.

We also use "cookies" to gather statistical information concerning Web traffic and usage patterns. A cookie is a message sent to your browser from a Web server that is stored on your computer's hard drive. The message is sent back to the Web server whenever the browser requests a page from that server. While a code in the cookie file enables the site to label you as a particular user, it does not identify you by name or address unless you have provided the site with such information or set up preferences in your browser to do so automatically. Cookies allow us to evaluate what our customers want, provide adequate capacity for our visitors, and display our information in the best manner. You may set your Web browser to inform you when cookies are set or to prevent cookies from being set. However, rejecting cookies may prevent you from using certain functions and you may repeatedly need to enter information.

Information We May Share With Others
We will only disclose your non-public personal information as permitted or required by law. We may share information about you with (i) third parties as necessary to effect, administer or enforce a transaction that you request or authorize, (ii) third parties in connection with servicing or processing a product or service that you request or authorize, (iii) any of our affiliated companies, (iv) regulatory authorities, (v) consumer reporting agencies, (vi) third parties in order to protect against or prevent actual or potential fraud or unauthorized transactions (vii) organizations conducting actuarial research studies, (viii) reinsurers, (ix) companies that perform marketing services on our behalf or with whom we have joint marketing agreements; and (x) other third parties as permitted or required by law.

If we disclose nonpublic personal information about you to our affiliates, the information will be disclosed to respond to your needs and to provide information about products or services offered by our affiliates.  Nonpublic personal information is treated with the same standards of confidentiality among all Alfa affiliates.  We may share information among our affiliates about your accounts or our experiences or transactions with you. This includes identification information, account balance information and payment histories. If you authorize the disclosure, your consumer report or investigative consumer report may be shared among our affiliated insurance companies as part of our underwriting process.

Except as permitted or required by law, we will not disclose nonpublic personal health information about you unless you authorize the disclosure.

Confidentiality and Security
If you are using a security-enabled web browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer 2.0 or better, or Netscape Navigator 2.0 or better, the nonpublic personal information you send us on applications or other forms over this Web site is encrypted.  We use an industry standard Secure Socket Layer to allow for encryption of sensitive personal information such as name, address, credit card, or bank account information you have been requested to provide online.

Please be aware that Alfa does not encrypt e-mail messages. E-mail messages traveling over the Internet are subject to viewing, alteration, and copying by potentially anyone on the Internet. In the instances where Alfa's Internet e-mail addresses are provided, these are provided for information inquiries of a non-sensitive and non-confidential nature. Alfa is not responsible for the security or the confidentiality of communication sent to us through the Internet using e-mail messages. Alfa retains a copy of these e-mail messages, but does not disclose e-mail messages to any third parties, except as permitted or required by law. The information you provide through the use of a feedback form will only be used by Alfa representatives and/or third parties who need to view this information to respond to your inquiry and to provide better customer services. You may also contact us by phone, U.S. mail or by visiting the closest Alfa office.

Alfa's Privacy Policy allows our employees, agents and customer service representatives to access nonpublic personal information to administer or provide products or services, or to otherwise perform their job functions. Employees, agents, or customer service representatives who misuse this information are subject to disciplinary action. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to guard your nonpublic personal information.
